Algebra Inequalities

We reviewed the home studies on inequalities and began discussing compund inequalities.

Algebra - Solving Inequalities

We reviewed solving one and two step equations and translated it solving one and two step inequalities, which work just about the same way. You can find notes here.

We also have home studies tonight on page 403 (20-26 even) and a mid chapter quiz on Friday.

Math 6 Solving Equations

Today we discussed Algebra! Now we are learning to solve for variables and started with addition and subtraction equations. You can find the notes here.

We will be having a mid chapter 6 quiz on Friday. If you print out the last page and fill in the blanks with your answers, you may bring it in for 5 points extra credit on your quiz.

Pre Algebra - Triangles and Quadrilaterals

We started a new chapter this week dealing with geometry. You can find notes on classifying triangles here and about quadrilaterals here

We will be having a mid chapter quiz on Tuesday. For a free 5 extra credit points, download and print out the third page of the quadrilaterals notes with the pictures and descriptions.

Algebra - Graphing Lines

We discussed graphing lines of equations in standard and slope intercept forms. When an equation is in standard form, you can find the x and y intercepts to graph the line. When an equation is in slope intercept form, you can graph the intercept and use the slope to graph another point. You can find notes here.

Math 6 Notes- Properties

Today we discussed all the math properties; commutative, associative, distributive, and identity. You can find notes here.

Pre Algebra - M&Ms Activity

We worked with M&Ms to gather data to find the mean, median, and mode of the number of M&Ms in each pack. We also graphed the results on a line plot and enjoyed them afterwords!

We talked about a new form of a linear equation, slope intercept form, that requires a slope and the y-intercept; y = mx + b

Pre Algebra Notes - Measures of Variation

Related to Measures of Central Tendency, which are mean, median, and mode, Measures of Variation include range, upper quartile, lower quartile, and interquartile range.

To find Range - list the numbers in order from least to greatest and subtract the smallest number from the largest number.
